Nothing to report
As you can probably guess from the lack of action on here nothing much worth reporting has been going on. We did have El's Mum and sister to visit for a week, staying a few days with us and a few at The Four Seasons. It was lovely to see them but we didn't do anything different from when we've had other visitors so it didn't really warrant a blog entry.
I figured that our wedding anniversary was as good a reason as any to write something, since it formed an integral part of our emigration out here. Don't worry, this isn't my only acknowledgment of our anniversary, I did get the lady a card and present! We even went for a meal at what turned out to be one of the most expensive places in Qatar (La Mer, Ritz-Carlton), where they brought out a lovely cake for us complete with fancy indoor firework/sparklery type thing.
So here's a few mundane things that have happened over the last few weeks;
More golf lessons, and more trips to the driving range inbetween lessons where we curse our inability to put into practice what we've been taught and generally get narky with each other as we fail to suitably express what we think the other one is doing wrong.
Trip to the dentist - first in ages. He told me I should have a brace for my vampire-like top-right canine. I said it was a bit late for that really. Being 28 and married I don't really have a lot of incentive to make this beautiful face even better. Highlight was the little Filipino lady who had to go and get a step ladder so she could operate the x-ray machine at my height. I love being a freak.
We've both got into a good gym routine (which is a lot easier when you don't have to leave the building to get to it!). I've even put on a pound or two, which as most of you will know is quite an achievement as I've been the same weight for 10 years or so. I'll soon be a massive bastard!
Some friends we made as a result of them reading this blog (I know, hard to believe that someone reads it, let alone would want to befriend the authors) suddenly disappeared. Turns out they weren't happy with the package they were on out here so decided it wasn't worth sticking around. Not that uncommon in an ex-pat community, and not the first time someone we've met as disappeared; a guy we met at the golf club completely vanished and we haven't heard from or of him since!
Otherwise it's just been working, eating, shopping, watching TV and going out drinking - pretty standard stuff wherever you are in the world.
So as you can see, not really worth blogging about but figured I better put something up. We're heading to the UK on Tuesday, where we look forward to catching up with some of you. Unfortenately time doesn't permit us to get around to see everyone.
